Review: Mama Lou’s at 30th Mall

Aldous once again invited me to another foodie event at Mama Lou’s, 30th Mall.

The homey ambiance of this restaurant is perfect for the family and barkada’s gastronomic adventure. Here are the mouthwatering food that you’ll definitely enjoy!

A large 4 cheese Pizza.

A large Bianca Pizza.

Prawns Thermidor, simmered prawns in spring onions and brandy topped with a delicious creamy sauce.

Chicken Marsala, chicken breast fillet layered with prosciutto, pomodoro and mozzarella.

Risotto Tartufo Funghi, wild mushroom with truffle cream.

Mushroom Chicharon is my favorite! Their very own version of healthy chicharon.

Vesuvio, mountain of rigatoni, stuffed with mozzarella, ricotta, peas and Italian meatballs and egg.

Truffle Mac and Cheese, scrumptious and comforting original blend of cheeses and truffle cream over tender elbow macaroni, topped with melted mozzarella and cheddar cheese.

Bacon Poutine.

Spaghetti Con Tuyo Filleto, salted fish fillets with freshly chopped red tomatoes, arugula in garlic and olive oil.

And for desserts we had TakeThe Cannoli and Italian Tiramisu.

TakeThe Cannoli, it is a homemade cocoa-marsala shell filled with Italian mascarpone cheese, chopped pistachios and chocolate glaze.

Their version of Italian Tiramisu is a bit different because it has Baileys.

Shie Capture’s flat lay photos.

Mama Lou’s dishes are unquestionably delicious and good for sharing.

Review: Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ

What started as an “ihaw-ihaw” barbeque concept of cousins Chef Raffy Sunico and Ben Donato has grown to a more technical “smoking” barbecue. Thanks to Chef Raffy’s extensive research and dedication to his craft. Pitmaster’s Smokehouse quickly became a home of mouthwatering smoked meats with the support of businessmen William Chia and his son William Chia Jr., Winston Lao, Willard Po, Jon Lao, Burgers and Brewskies owner Mike Floro, Robinson Laxa and Von Samson.

And his collection of homemade sauces such as Apple (sweet), East Capitol (spicy) and Hazelnut is truly genius.  Pitmasters Smokehouse is also serving local craft beers.

Xiao Nan Men, Banawe

I’ve never been in Taiwan yet, but because of Aldous Calubad, I was able to try their cuisine without leaving the country.

Review: El Chapo’s, Katipunan

El Chapo’s in The Yard is a food stall that offers Filipino Mexican dish. As per Mark (the owner), the name El Chapo’s was inspired by a Mexican drug lord. So don’t worry, it’s legal. 😉

What I enjoyed most in El Chapo’s food is their Fil-Mex Style Barbequed Street Corn (Php60.00), it is a combination of sweet and spicy flavor. Hey! Believe me, it may look like a fish because of the plating, but this is really a corn. And this one is a sweet corn!

We also had their Cheesy Beef Salpicao Nachos (Php160.00).

Their humongous Onion Rings (Php75.00) is good for sharing. It has parmesan and sriracha.

If you are looking for a new flavor of tacos, El Chapo’s is here. You can try their Chicharitos Lechon Sisig (Php85.00), it has sour cream and salsa verde.

Or you can try their best-seller Beef Salpicao Taco (Php95.00).

Review: Shizen Ramen, Marikina City

Situated in Marikina City, Shizen Ramen obviously offers Japanese food like ramen, gyoza and salads. Ramen lovers should visit this restaurant because of their huge serving. Yung tipong kasing laki siya ng mukha mo or mas malaki pa sa mukha mo yung serving bowl nila. Man, I’m serious, walang halong biro. And hey, it is affordable, too!

We started our dinner with their mini version of Gyoza. For only Php80.00 you can have three pieces of it.

For the Ramen, I had their best-seller The Beast Ramen (Php229.00), a combination of beef strips, corn, chasyu and egg. The meat was tender, the broth was flavorful, the egg was perfectly cooked, and the sweetness of corn was good. No wonder why this is their best-seller. It was full-flavored! Sulit and byahe from Quezon City to Marikina City.

Once you try their ramen, you’ll look for it the next time the rain pours. Just like what happened two days ago, The Beast Ramen can be my comfort food for this crazy rainy weather.

Here are the other flavors you can try:
Chasyu Ramen (Php179.00) is a combination of four pieces of Chasyu, Wakame and Spring Onions.

Yakuza Ramen (Php199.00) is a combination of Beef Strips, Chili, Bean Sprouts, Tofu and Mushroom.

Tokyo Ramen (Php189.00) is a combination of Fish Cake, Bamboo Shoots, Kombu and Chasyu.

Thanks to Aldous and Shizen Ramen for inviting!

Review: Shawarma Bros, UP Town Center

Following the launch of Shawarma Bros at Bonifacio Global City Stopover a year ago, the Bros began looking for key locations to expand the BROtherhood. Enthusiastic response to the signature flavors meant finding the right place where people on-the-go could pick up a quick and satisfying meal.
The search was successful and the shawarma experience is happening now at Mckinley Hill’s Venice Grand Canal Mall and UP Town Center in Katipunan. The new restaurants are located in some of the newest lifestyle centers in Metro Manila.

Shawarma Bros have launched new dishes to excite palates looking for something different and budget friendly.
Pita Tostadas with Garlic Hummus (Php 80.00) – Their pitas are toasted in Panini presses for that grilled shawarma wrap that has become a crowd favorite. They now bravely take their pita game one notch higher with a deep fried Pita Tostadas combined with a garlic hummus dip to create a pleasing appetizer or merienda treat.

One of the Owners is explaining the new dish.

Keema Nachos (Php 159.00) – Experience a different side of the Shawarma Bros Keema as it is poured steaming over crunchy nacho corn chips, accompanied by grated cheese, diced
tomatoes and onions and drizzled with your choice of two sauces. Match it with a beer from their local selection to relax after a long day’s work.

Here is Shawarma Bros Lamb Steak Rice (Php219).

The Chicken Shawarma Rice (Php169).

And the Beef Shawarma Rice (Php179).

Shawarma Bros sauces.
The Cheese Sauce, Chili Tomato and Garlic Yogurt. Bros can be cheesy too!

Keema (Php99).

Staying true to its roots, Shawarma Bros, which started as one of the first food trucks in the country, pays homage to each new location by having a mural dedicated to a specific landmark. In the Venice Grand Canal Mall branch’s exterior, a hand painted landscape of the famous Rialto Bridge in Venice serves as a colorful backdrop to a Shawarma Bros food truck. In UP Town Center, the truck is set in front of a hand painted artwork of the Quezon City Circle nightsky.
Inside the stores, string lights hang over an urban inspired setting to suggest that food truck experience in the busy streets of a city.

Why so serious, ladies? 😂

My flatlay photo.

Team Aldous 3rd Anniversary

Third Anniversary of #TeamAldous. Yay! So excited for this event on August 20th. Brought you by The Royal Caterer and in partnership with Wild Cocktails, Orange Lights and Sounds and Fantasy Kiosk.

Review: Bossing’s Grill, Ali Mall

What you eat is what you are. I totally agree with that! Everything should be in moderation, but sometimes we just can’t help it!Bossing’s Grill is a buffet which offers Filipino cuisine. Uncle Cheffy group of restaurants and catering services owns Chef’s Buffet, Bossing’s Grill, Kuse, Larry and Mau Diner, Market Basket, Chef’s Quarter catering service and Uncle Cheffy.

Bossing’s Grill started on October 2013. The story of the owners is very inspiring! The President Larry Cortez started as a security guard while the Vice President/Chef Mauro Arjona started as a kitchen steward. And because of their dedication, hardwork and determination, it all paid off! Their story only proves that if you really want something and you are damn serious about it, it is all possible! Indeed, everything is so hard before they were easy.

Let’s start our Filipino gastronomic adventure!

Fish fillet is very delightful.

The sliced pork is a bit salty.

 Sisig is the best!!!!!!

Here’s the other food that for sure you’ll definitely try.

Raise your dessert spoons!!!

<img class="size-large wp-image-793" src="" alt="Choco leche flan! Choco leche flan! 💕

Will I recommend it? Absolutely! Price: 5/5 Not bad for P299.00. Buffet, plus unlimited drinks. I agree with their tagline. It’s really “Buffet ng Bayan”. Ambiance: 5/5 Very spacious. Good job for having a function room. You can have a reservation for a business meeting if ever. Serving: 5/5 Make sure you leave room for the dessert! Taste: 4/5 Filipino dish with a twist! Oh my gosh! Choco leche flan is a must-try! Service: 5/5 The crew is very friendly and accommodating.

Location: G/F Phase 1 Ali Mall, Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City.
