Review: Soban K-Town Grill, Eastwood

Soban K-Town Grill is a collaboration between award winning Korean restaurateur, Mr. Sung Rah of Sariwon Korean Barbecue and their Philippines franchisee, the Happy Foods Group.
Soban in Korean means small tray or table. It is inspired by K-Town in Los Angeles where Korean immigrants settled and began fusing traditional Korean ingredients and techniques with American comfort food and the Mexican street food scene, charting a bold new flavorful path for Korean cuisine.
We start our Soban restaurant review when the Owners served their Banchan. Banchan in Korean means appetizer.

Team Aldous had Premium BBQ Combo Set (P2,120), 180 grams premium marinated beef, 180 grams pork belly (choice of any 2 flavors: original, fruity, chili bean, soy garlic, and wine doenjang), 180 grams boneless fried chicken, and 2 japchae.

Just add P15 to upgrade to Soban’s signature kimchi fried rice.

I almost forgot, each grill set comes with unlimited soup, rice and side dishes. Wow!

The generous Owners also served Soban’s Woo Samgyup (120 grams/P390 or 180 grams/P450), it is grilled USDA beef belly set.
Kimchi fries (P199) is good for sharing. Smothered with cheese, roasted pork bits and kimchi.

K-Taco (1pc/P75), a soft taco made with fresh lettuce, kimchi, sour cream, cheese and your choice of K-BBQ meat (beef, chicken, pork). Soban’s K-Taco is generous in meat.

Since we are curious what Ultimate Beef Bap (P250) looks like, the Owners also served it. This is 100 grams flavorful beef belly and mixed rice with assorted vegetables and fried egg in a sizzling stone bowl. One of the Owners said that the Beef Bap is good for solo, but I disagree. For me, their Beef Bap is good for sharing.

Our Korean dining experience is not complete without desserts. Yay!
We had Coffee Prince (P120), homemade coffee ice cream on a bed of soft graham and Korean red beans. FYI, Coffee Prince is a popular Korean drama.

image

We also had Ice Cream Trio (P135), 3 scoops of homemade ice cream in a bowl. You can choose your flavors from cookies and cream, vanilla or coffee. Soban’s homemade ice cream is milky and creamy! Ice cream lovers will love it.

We end our Korean dinner with Soban’s cocktail and had Black Dragon Carafe and Galaxy Carafe. Each carafe is P450.

Will I recommend Soban? 100% yes!
From do it yourself grilled set to desserts, each dish is very flavorful.
