Novuhair: The gift of healthy ‘crowning glory’ fit for the queen this Mother’s Day

CLICHE it may be, but there’s indeed a woman behind the person we are today. And that’s no less than her—our mother. We used to call her nanay, inay, ‘nay, mama, mommy or simply mom. Needless to say, she deserves more than that given the pivotal role she fulfills in rearing us from childhood to adulthood and possibly for the rest of our lives.

There may be opposing beliefs whether that greater maternal instinct is biologically predetermined or socially imposed, but everyone would agree that a mother is hardwired to love and care about the whole family, especially the children, all the time. For better or worse, it’s always the welfare of everyone at home on top of her priority.

No wonder she’s an epitome of a doting human being that touches everybody’s life.

Still drooling over the ways on how to spend this time of the year again with her? Well, you may opt for the basics of gift-giving from simple trinkets to expensive items. But take note, your appreciation of her is not equated by the tag price of your present. It’s the thought that counts, as an adage says.

You may consider a set of hankies that will bring back the memory of her wiping out her tears of happiness upon knowing that she’s conceiving a li’l creature inside her womb. That’s you, of course. A loose yet comfy clothes shall make her remember that sort of a duster or preggy dress she wore in the laborious yet exciting “nine months” of gestation.

Why not a pillow that she could hug as tight as she embraced you after giving birth, or maybe a brassiere for protection of the very bosom she fed you with during infancy? A bed will bring to her mind your tot years when you started to crawl and roll over it freely.

Shoes are a girl’s best friend, too, like your mom. Either sky-high heels or flattering flats, there’s a pair to match every bit of her fantasy. For as long as it brings comfort to her feet, it’s more than enough to reciprocate the ease you had when you took your first walk with her guidance back then. If it isn’t her thing, though, a flip-flop will cause her to think that she also disciplined you through the proverbial “rule of slipper” hit on your buttocks while you were growing up.

Much to her delight, a bling ring will be worthy of your dear investment to show your deep appreciation of her just like when she never failed to recognize you with a pat on the back for simple good deeds or a job well done in your lifetime.

Stuck for an idea yet? Here’s a simple but meaningful token of gratitude that for sure will make a big difference and, eventually, pull off a surprise for the celebrant herself: The NOVUHAIR 3-in-1 pack which includes the topical scalp lotion, herbal shampoo and conditioner. Yes, you read it right.

Still not convinced enough, why don’t you spray a liberal amount of NOVUHAIR topical scalp lotion onto your mom’s scalp and massage it for five to ten minutes. You may not even know that with such a plain gesture of yours, it can melt her heart as it reminds her of the past when she used to do the same thing while you were still young, either as a trick to put you easily on a slumber or merely a relief every time you got sick. Those caressing hands of yours, likewise, imbibe your act of giving back the “natural care from mothers” like her.

Whatever impression it may have on her, what’s tangible she could gain is that you’re giving her nature’s gift of health. NOVUHAIR Topical Scalp Lotion is so unique that it combines 19 natural herbs, essential oils and co-factor nutrients––all working synergistically to help address hair problems from growth to vanishing. This breakthrough product helps to rejuvenate, nourish and maintain the moist of her tress from root to tip, aids in stimulating the growth of her hair and helps prevent it from excessive falling, while improving the overall appearance.

More than anything else, NOVUHAIR 3-in-1 pack may be one of the most precious gifts that your mom could ever receive in her entire life. Well, she’s the most important woman in your life after all. Hence, she deserves to be treated like a queen with that vibrant, bouncy and shiny “crowning glory.”

NOVUHAIR 3-in-1 pack is beyond compare. So, don’t think twice to wrap it as your present for her this Mother’s Day and, if ever, for life. Head on to any Mercury Drug and other leading drugstores to get a dose of nature’s answer to hair loss.  For inquiries, call 413-6570 or 0922-8830575, and visit http://www.novuhair.com for more details. Review: El Chapo’s, Katipunan

El Chapo’s in The Yard is a food stall that offers Filipino Mexican dish. As per Mark (the owner), the name El Chapo’s was inspired by a Mexican drug lord. So don’t worry, it’s legal. 😉

What I enjoyed most in El Chapo’s food is their Fil-Mex Style Barbequed Street Corn (Php60.00), it is a combination of sweet and spicy flavor. Hey! Believe me, it may look like a fish because of the plating, but this is really a corn. And this one is a sweet corn!
image

We also had their Cheesy Beef Salpicao Nachos (Php160.00).
image

Their humongous Onion Rings (Php75.00) is good for sharing. It has parmesan and sriracha.
image

If you are looking for a new flavor of tacos, El Chapo’s is here. You can try their Chicharitos Lechon Sisig (Php85.00), it has sour cream and salsa verde.
image

Or you can try their best-seller Beef Salpicao Taco (Php95.00).

Review: Shizen Ramen, Marikina City

image

Situated in Marikina City, Shizen Ramen obviously offers Japanese food like ramen, gyoza and salads. Ramen lovers should visit this restaurant because of their huge serving. Yung tipong kasing laki siya ng mukha mo or mas malaki pa sa mukha mo yung serving bowl nila. Man, I’m serious, walang halong biro. And hey, it is affordable, too!
image

We started our dinner with their mini version of Gyoza. For only Php80.00 you can have three pieces of it.
image
image
image

For the Ramen, I had their best-seller The Beast Ramen (Php229.00), a combination of beef strips, corn, chasyu and egg. The meat was tender, the broth was flavorful, the egg was perfectly cooked, and the sweetness of corn was good. No wonder why this is their best-seller. It was full-flavored! Sulit and byahe from Quezon City to Marikina City.
image
image

Once you try their ramen, you’ll look for it the next time the rain pours. Just like what happened two days ago, The Beast Ramen can be my comfort food for this crazy rainy weather.

Here are the other flavors you can try:
Chasyu Ramen (Php179.00) is a combination of four pieces of Chasyu, Wakame and Spring Onions.
image

Yakuza Ramen (Php199.00) is a combination of Beef Strips, Chili, Bean Sprouts, Tofu and Mushroom.
image

Tokyo Ramen (Php189.00) is a combination of Fish Cake, Bamboo Shoots, Kombu and Chasyu.
image
image

Thanks to Aldous and Shizen Ramen for inviting!

Review: Shakeaway, UP Town Center

Shie Captures was invited for another food review in UP Town.
image

Shakeaway, the world’s largest and popular milkshake bar company is now here in Manila. You can choose from 180 flavors and combinations. Exciting, right?
image

We had Max to start our Shakeaway adventure. It has chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate filled mint candy and whipped cream. This shake gave us cooling effect because of the mint chocolate.
image
image

We also had Jose, a Filipino shake contains Ube, Macapuno and Pinipig on top. I’m not a fan of Ube, but this one is a must-try!
image
image

Toasty Tim from their Winter menu is a limited edition HOT shake. Yes, this is not a mistake. Hot shake is without a doubt genius!
image
image

For Shakeaway’s Soda shake, we tried their Sarsi flavor. For this, it reminds of A&W root beer. The yogurt gave this shake some luscious taste.
image

Our Shakeaway adventure is not complete without frozen yogurt desserts. We had Izzie, it contains banana, strawberries and granola. Friend, this is 100% fat free frozen yogurt.

Thank you for inviting SHiE Captures, Shakeaway!

What I enjoyed most with Bao on the Block food adventure is their Deep Fried Ice Cream Bao. It has a hot bao that made the dessert more interesting.

1485697936187

They also serve some beer, you can have some local beer or try the Tsing Tao beer from China. One of the owners said that Tsing Tao is the second popular beer in China and it complements well with Baos.

Review: Hapag Heritage, Maginhawa

I was invited by lifestyle blogger Alyssa Tuangco to try the new dishes of Hapag Heritage. Headed by Chef Julio, the restaurant wants to continue sharing and serving their grandmother’s recipe.

We started with Kilawin na Hipon (Php260.00) for the appetizer. It was good!

image

Manok ng Hapag (Php470.00) is their version of roasted chicken.

image

Their Sisiron Rice (Php260.00) and Tinapa Rice (Php240.00) is well-seasoned. Jampacked with scrambled eggs, tomatoes and spring onions as you can see.

image

image

The classic Kare-Kare (Php530.00) is every family would go for. Perfect for plain rice.

image

Beef Morcon (Php520.00) is perfect for the meat lovers out there.

image

Pansit Canton (Php280.00) is a bit saucy, but still good.

image

Their Binagoongang Baboy sa Gata (Php380.00) is my grand winner! The meat is tender and the sauce is so flavorful.

image

Sinigang na Bangus sa Bayabas (Php330.00) is my 1st runner up. The sourness is really natural. Guava is a good source of Vitamin C. This dish is healthy and so yummy, I can eat this everyday. Perfect for this rainy season!

image

Ginisang Hipon sa Taba ng Talangka (Php480.00) is my 2nd runner-up. This dish is delicious, but sinful. Haha. It complements well with their plain rice.

image

Ripe Mango Smoothie (Php120.00) is always refreshing.

image

Hapag Heritage’s adventure is not complete without any dessert. So let’s start with Pandan Macapuno Cheesecake (Php140.00) is delightfully sweet.

image

Ensaymaditas with Chorizo Bits (Php70.00) and Ensaymaditas with Tinapa Flakes (Php70.00) is something you wouldn’t want to miss.

image

image

While writing this, it reminds me of Little Manila, a Filipino food stall in Vietnam. Scrumptious dish like what Hapag Heritage is serving deserves a spotlight in the international cuisine.

image

The ambiance is homey that anyone can dine and enjoy Filipino comfort foods.

Flat lay and foodies behind the scene.

Review: Gourmade and Party Toques By Chef Rob Lau

Gourmade by Chef Rob Lau proudly launches its party trays division, Party Toques: The Food Platter Expert.
14612641_1129103213825490_2106425618980587507_o.jpg
Headed by Chef Mike Toledo, Party Toques promises to give your celebrations unforgettable taste and make lasting memories with your loved ones. Party Toques food platter is perfect for all types of occasions like baptism, baby showers, birthdays, family lunch/dinner, reunions, intimate gatherings of friends, barkada get-togethers or holiday feasts.
We tried Party Toques Sushi Platter (Php850).
1477609069104.jpg
Chicken Biryani (Php1240), Chef Rob Lau’s version reminds me of the Biryani I had when I was in Malaysia. I will post my Malaysia trip soon! 🙂
1481582838057.jpg
Persian Beef Kebab (Php1100), my family loves the Kebab! So juicy and complements well with the yogurt garlic sauce.
1477278983525.jpg
Miso Baked Salmon with Eggplant (Php1595), what I’ve noticed on  this particular dish is that it has Bonito flakes, a Japanese ingredient that will start to move when you add them to cooked foods. It can give an impression that they’re somehow alive.
1481581307490.jpg
Valencia Roasted Chicken with Paella Rice (Php1100), I find this dish so sulit! The price is very reasonable because you already have rice, seafood and a whole roasted chicken. Chef Mike said that the chicken has been roasted for more than three hours. No wonder why it was so flavorful and aromatic.
1477279019826.jpg
Thai Pork Glass Noodle (Php1180).
1481585921161.jpg
Squid Ink Bread, the filling of the bread are eggs and shrimps. I think it would be better if they will add some cream cheese on the filling so flavor will become richer.
1481580254147.jpg
Matcha Cream Chocolate Cupcake, the matcha flavor is not that strong so I liked it. However, the cupcake a bit mediocre.
1481582794612
Banana and Hazelnut Cream, the sweetness of the banana comes out naturally because of the light flavor of hazelnut chocolate.
1481579484630
Classic Red Velvet is run-of-the-mill.
1481579410002
Serradura in Black Sesame & Mango Flavor  (Php500) for 500 grams. Also known as Sawdust Pudding with multiple layers of sweet cream, crushed cookies, nuts & fruits all rolled together in one unique mouthwatering dessert.
1481586006620
Oreo and Chocnut, Oreo lovers will love this dessert. Believe me! 🙂
1481581684817
Green Tea and Hojicka Tiramisu, the green tea flavor is mild for this tiramisu dessert, which is good. Too much of green tea flavor will cause a bit bitterness to any food.
1481581599475
Let us end our year by eating yummy and healthy!
Party Toques by Chef Rob Lau is our perfect companion for this season.
